ALL SET FOR THE 52 SUPER SERIES: THE FLEET IS ALREADY IN LANZAROTE

The unloading of the ship carrying all the circuit’s infrastructure marks the official start of the two races that the island will host this summer.

Lanzarote, 6 July 2026 – This Monday, the Port of Arrecife is hosting the start of the 52 SUPER SERIES operation with the unloading of the cargo ship chartered exclusively to transport the entire fleet and the circuit’s infrastructure from Olbia (Italy), following the last race held in Porto Cervo.

On board are the 13 TP52s that make up the championship fleet, the
inflatable support boats and 27 40-foot containers containing all the technical equipment required for the competition. The cargo ship transports the entire circuit’s infrastructure between the various venues on the European calendar – a complex logistical operation that makes its arrival the official start of the two events that Lanzarote will host this summer.
Following its arrival in Arrecife, the fleet will remain on the island to compete in the Marina
Rubicón 52 SUPER SERIES Cup, from 20 to 24 July, and the Puerto Calero 52 SUPER SERIES Royal Cup, from 24 to 29 August, cementing Lanzarote’s status as one of the leading venues on the international circuit.

The launch of operations was attended by the mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda; the manager of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, Héctor Fernández; the CEO of Marina Rubicón, Rafael Lasso; and the CEO of Calero Marinas, José Juan Calero, who were present to mark the start of an operation that once again highlights Lanzarote’s capacity to host sporting events of international standing.

The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, emphasised that “we are proud that Lanzarote is able to host a sporting event of this calibre and continue to demonstrate its ability to organise major international events. It is also important to highlight the infrastructure and the work carried out by Marina Rubicón and Puerto Calero, two venues that have established themselves as leading centres for the organisation of top-level sailing competitions. All of this translates into a significant economic impact for the island, boosting the local economy and reinforcing our image as a high-quality destination”.

For his part, the manager of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, Héctor
Fernández, emphasised that “the arrival of the 52 SUPER SERIES reaffirms the strategy that
we have been promoting for years through Lanzarote Sports Destination. Hosting two races on the circuit helps to consolidate our position as a top-tier sports tourism destination, capable of attracting high-value visitors, whilst enabling us to continue strengthening a tourism offering based on quality, sustainability and the hosting of major international events.”

Finally, the CEO of Calero Marinas, José Juan Calero, emphasised the significance of this class’s return to the island: “It is a very special moment. It has been twenty years since Lanzarote hosted that first TP52 World Championship, when this class was taking its first steps. After two decades of constant work to establish the island as an international benchmark for sailing, today we have the pleasure of hosting two of the most important events on the circuit. It is an opportunity to put Lanzarote back on the world map of this sport and for fans and teams to enjoy two exceptional events.”

The operation is being coordinated by Pindar Partners Ltd, the freight forwarder and sponsor of the 52 SUPER SERIES, in collaboration with Cargo Lanzarote, the Port of Arrecife, SanCargo as customs agent, and the companies responsible for unloading and transporting the fleet to Marina Rubicón and Puerto Calero. The teams are already in Lanzarote preparing for the start of the competition.

The Lanzarote 52 SUPER SERIES is supported by the Lanzarote Island Council, through SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote and its sports tourism initiative ‘Lanzarote Sports Destination’, its Project Planning and Coordination Department and the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), the Lanzarote Island Council’s Sports Service and the Economic Promotion Department, together with Yaiza Town Council and Promotur Turismo de Islas Canarias.
