The Sorcery (RCNA), skippered by Antonio Hern\u00e1ndez, was declared the winner of the 2nd
Gran Canaria \u2013 Fuerteventura Regatta, a cruising race organised by the Real Club N\u00e1utico de Gran Canaria, which set sail last Friday, 1 May, from the bay of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, bound for Marina Jand\u00eda in Fuerteventura.
This second edition consolidates an event that has been extremely well received since its inception, bringing together a notable fleet of cruising class yachts. The regatta was contested over a course of 63 nautical miles, with boats competing in the ORC 0 to ORC 5 categories, as well as featuring the added attraction of the Corinthian Trophy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Weather conditions shaped the course of the race. The lack of wind throughout the course made sailing difficult, resulting in only two boats managing to complete the regatta within the time limit set for qualification, which was scheduled for 8.00 pm on the same Friday.
Antonio Hern\u00e1ndez\u2019s Sorcery claimed victory. In second place was the Felipeva VI, skippered by Felipe del Rosario of the RCNGC. The event was held in collaboration with the Club N\u00e1utico Pen\u00ednsula de Jand\u00eda and Calero Marinas, and was also supported by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation and the Royal Canarian Sailing Federation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regatta has also received institutional support from the Government of the Canary Islands, the Island Council of Gran Canaria, the Island Council of Fuerteventura, P\u00e1jara Town Council and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Town Council. In addition, there is collaboration from Naviera Armas
Trasmediterr\u00e1nea, the Spanish Association of Yacht Clubs and the Canarian Association of
Yacht Clubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now firmly established as a flagship event on the Canary Islands\u2019 sailing calendar, the Gran Canaria \u2013 Fuerteventura Regatta continues to grow and strengthen its position as an ocean crossing of great sporting appeal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The awards ceremony, held at the Morro Jable Fishermen\u2019s Guild, was attended by
various officials from the islands, including Alejandro Jorge Moreno, Mayor of P\u00e1jara, Luis
Gonz\u00e1lez Cabrera, Minister for Sport of the Fuerteventura Island Council, Carmen Alonso,
Minister for New Technologies, Eva S\u00e1nchez, Councillor for Accessibility and Housing at
P\u00e1jara Town Council, Fernando Marrero Flores, Vice-Commodore of the Royal Yacht Club of
Gran Canaria, Pilar Hern\u00e1ndez, Marketing Manager at Calero Marinas, and Fernando M\u00e9ndez,
