Macrofit Arrecife

Successful Canarian health club operator reopens the popular marina gym.

Macrofit Arrecife, located in the Centro Comercial Marina Lanzarote, opened to the public in Spring 2017.  The extensive facility includes areas dedicated to functional training, bodybuilding, cardiovascular endurance and fitness classes, including spinning, zumba, pilates, bodypump, bodycombat and more.

The gym offers opening hours of 6am to 11pm from Monday to Friday and also during the weekend, from 8am to 8pm on Saturdays and 9am to 3pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Macrofit Arrecife’s slogan “entrénate para la vida” (“train for life”), encourages healthy activity for everyone from sports enthusiasts to those simply seeking to improve their general level of fitness in order to cope more easily with daily life.

The company is well-regarded for its quality equipment and professional and well-trained staff. Beyond a reassuring level of technical expertise, another of this gym’s most appreciated values is the views that can be enjoyed in both directions; on one side watching over the marina and pontoon life and on the other, open vistas across the Atlantic Ocean.

ARRECIFE HISTORY MUSEUM

The Castillo de San Gabriel is a sixteenth century cultural heritage monument; previously a fort guarding the entry to the Puerto de Arrecife and now home to the Arrecife History Museum.

From Marina Lanzarote this is a pleasant 20-minute walk along Arrecife’s waterfront and then out across the lava-cobbled “Puente de las Bolas” bridge to the Fort.

The fort’s dense walls afford a contemplative peacefulness with which to study the attractively presented panels that provide a carefully prepared, detailed and most inclusive range of information, starting in the first chamber with a general introduction to the Lanzarote’s flora, fauna and sealife before moving on to aspects such as the island’s cultural, ethnographic, agricultural and wartime history. Models, paintings and archaeological artifacts complement the panels with special attention paid to Lanzarote’s maritime traditions. Pirates are given their due much to the glee of younger visitors who will also enjoy the cannons guarding the entrance. (More on this subject can be found in an entire exhibition dedicated to pirates in the Museo de Piratería, in the Castillo de Santa Barbara in Teguise.)

Access is currently still free although entry may well be charged in the near future. It should be pointed out that for the time being, information in the display panels can be viewed solely in Spanish. Upon request, a written guide with a summary of each panel is provided in English or German.

Opening hours are from Monday to Friday: 10:00  – 17:00 and Saturdays from 10:00 until 14:00

Virtual Simulator 6D Cinema

The Virtual Simulator 6D Cinema in Marina Lanzarote is really very good fun indeed. A private, nine-seater auditorium offers a tremendously exciting experience that has proven decidedly popular with all ages.

Making use of HD 3D media and flight simulation technology, viewers are rocketed around space, through prehistoric scenes, on hair-raising roller coasters; choosing from an enticing menu of epic journeys.

A recent addition is the Lanzarote Skyride. A more gentle and relaxed excursion, this is a delightful and completely unique introduction to the island, swooping down through clouds into volcanic craters, over the sea and calling in at some of Lanzarote’ s most iconic locations.

Prices are very reasonable with the majority of rides costing only 5€. The longer Lanzarote Skyride is priced at 10€ although Marina Lanzarote berth-holders can obtain a 10% discount for this trip upon production of their marina card.

You can find the Cine 6D Virtual Simulator in Marina Lanzarote, open every day from 10am.  For more information visit the website: cine6d.es
